NewsID:129    Datetime:2010-12-15

Winter boots come into their own this 2010 season with perennial favorites such as the ankle work boot and riding boot but also sees some new kids on the block in the guise of Saicou boots and those covered in shearling.

Over-the-knee boots have evolved from last winter into luxe versions adorned with studs, feathers, laces and braiding. Military detailing is also a key winter trend.

Boot manufacturers have added a number of new elements to the basic boot, whether studs and buckles or shearling panels and sock cuffs. Crepe soles replace leather and faux-fur, along with shearling, is one of the biggest embellishments.

The Riding Boot
The great outdoors is a key fashion theme for fall winter 2010 and riding boots channel a very lady-of-the manor moment. These classic knee-high boots with their buckle detailing are chic alongside midi skirts, leggings, skinny jeans and military-style coats.

The Shearling Boot
No fabric is as big as shearling sheepskin this season, with shearling aviator jackets, gilets and coats. The fabric has also found itself onto fashion footwear and none so prolific as the winter boot. Shearling is found in all sorts of guises, as cuffs, paneling, detailing and lining.

The Over-the-knee Boot
Over-the-knee boots for winter 2010 have taken a luxurious turn. These look-at-me boots are not for fashion’s faint-hearted with their sex appeal and opulent detailing. Whether its studs, feathers, laces, cut-out motifs or brading, these boots make enough of a fashion statement on their own so keep the rest of the outfit simple. If money is no object check out the latest offering from Jimmy Choo. The designer's Juxta cage boots have just the right mix of chic and sexy.
